For us, outdoor cooking means: fire, steel, and people gathered around. Fire plate or grill – what is the difference

On a fire plate, the wood burns in the center, and the cooking happens on the hot steel ring all around it. Meat, fish, and vegetables are cooked perfectly at the same time because the ring gets cooler towards the outer edge: sear inside, keep warm outside. A classic grill only has one zone above the embers. The second difference is social – at a fire plate, everyone stands in a circle and talks, instead of one person standing alone by the lid.

Which size fits

The OFYR Classic+ comes in 85 and 100 centimeter diameters. 85 centimeters is enough for a standard terrace and the usual circle of family or friends. 100 centimeters is the right choice if you regularly host larger groups or if several people need to work at the ring at the same time. The OFYR 75, at 75 centimeters, is the compact version for smaller terraces.

Corten steel rusts – and that is intentional

Outdoor fire plates made of Corten develop a reddish-brown rust layer. This layer is dense and protects the steel underneath rather than corroding it further. The cooking surface itself is seasoned and maintained with oil, so nothing rusts there. If you don't like the rusty look, choose one of the black versions.

With wood storage, mobile, or as a full kitchen

The storage models have the wood storage built into the base, keeping the firewood dry and within reach under the plate. The OFYR Trailer is on wheels and goes wherever the party is – for caterers, club festivals, and large properties. If you want a fixed outdoor kitchen line, combine the PRO-Connect modules: plancha, preparation, grill, and connection module stand in a row. The teak elements of the Deck series by Weishäupl fit perfectly, with drawers, tall cabinets, sideboards, and planter boards.

Fire baskets for evenings without cooking

Not every evening outside requires food. The MOON by höfats burns wood in two stages thanks to double-walled gasifier technology, making it almost smoke-free with significantly less ash. Inner shell stainless steel, outer shell enameled steel, fired with either firewood or pellets. With the Plancha grill set, the fire basket becomes a grill station with a surrounding frying surface.

Delivery and installation location

The units are delivered by a freight forwarder; you can see the shipping costs in the shopping cart. A fire plate requires a solid, non-flammable surface and sufficient distance from walls, hedges, and furniture. Frequently asked questions

Can the fire plate stay outside?
Yes. All models are built for permanent outdoor use. We recommend a cover for the winter so that no water collects in the fire bowl.

What is used for fuel?
Dry firewood, preferably beech. The MOON by höfats can also optionally run on pellets.

How is the cooking surface cleaned?
While it is warm, scrape it off with a spatula and water, then coat it lightly with oil. Dish soap is not needed.

Do I need a permit?
Usually not on your own property. In rental apartments and on balconies, individual rules may apply depending on the building regulations – please check beforehand.

Can I expand the modules later?
Yes. The PRO-Connect modules from OFYR and the Deck elements from Weishäupl can be purchased individually and added to later.
