Which mirror fits my wall? Size, height, and mounting

It is easy to buy a mirror, but only once it is on the wall do you see if it really fits. If it is too small, it looks lost; if hung too high, it only reflects the ceiling. With a few rules of thumb, you can make the right choice before you even order.

Size depends on what is underneath it

If the mirror is hanging over a sideboard, console, or vanity, it should be narrower than the piece of furniture. A good rule of thumb is about two-thirds of the furniture's width. If it is hanging freely on a wall, it can certainly be large: a large mirror creates a sense of calm, while several small ones create a sense of restlessness. If you want both, combine two coordinated sizes, such as the Arbo Gold set or the Arbo Deco set, which consist of a large and a medium-sized mirror.

The right height

It is best to have the center of the mirror at approximately eye level, which is usually between 150 and 160 centimeters above the floor. If it is above a piece of furniture, leave about a hand's width of space between the top edge of the furniture and the bottom edge of the mirror. Hold the mirror up against the wall before drilling, or mark its outline with painter's tape; you will see immediately if the height is correct.

Round or rectangular

Round mirrors like the Luna Light Round or the Luna Black Round soften the austerity of a room filled with straight lines. Rectangular and narrow formats visually stretch a wall in height or width and fit well in hallways. You can find all shapes in our Mirror collection.

Floor mirrors: no drilling required

If you don't want to drill or are renting, opt for a floor mirror. Models in the Chassis series, such as the Chassis XL Deluxe and the Chassis XL Black, lean freely against the wall and show you from head to toe.

Mounting and bathrooms

Mounting hardware is included with the mirrors. Large models are heavy and belong on a load-bearing wall, ideally mounted by two people. Only mirrors expressly approved by the manufacturer for wet rooms may be used in the bathroom. You can check if this applies to your model in the technical specifications on the product page.

Unsure about your choice

Send us a photo of the wall with the approximate dimensions to info@huber-lebensgefuehl.de. We can tell you which format and size will fit, and if you are looking for a non-standard size, we will check with the manufacturer to see if your desired dimensions are possible.
