Boxwood protection net

The BUXIT® net is a mechanical protection against the box tree moth and is supplied cut to the meter.

Dimensions & Structure:

• The net is always 42 cm wide

How it works: The fine-meshed, elastic net prevents the box tree moth from landing on the box tree and laying eggs there. This mechanically prevents feeding damage – without the use of sprays.

Expansion: For larger or taller box trees, multiple nets can be connected to each other. They can be connected simply and securely using standard cable ties.

The smallest product in my range and one I am particularly pleased with: it protects boxwood trees purely mechanically, without pesticides. The moth cannot land on the elastic net with its spikes and therefore cannot lay any eggs.

Timing is crucial. The net must be in place before the first moth flight in spring, not only once the caterpillars have already started feeding. And it is intentionally air- and light-permeable – under dense plastic sheeting, the boxwood would rot from the inside. A net lasts a good eight years.

How to measure correctly:

1. Measure the height of your boxwood from the ground to its highest point.
2. Measure the diameter at its widest point.

How to calculate the amount needed: diameter multiplied by height multiplied by 3.14 equals the surface area that needs to be covered. Divide this area by the 0.42-meter strip width, plus about ten percent for the overlap, to get the total linear meters. Example: a ball with a diameter of 60 centimeters and a height of 60 centimeters requires about 3 meters. You can watch a video about this here: to the video

How to order correctly:

• The netting is 42 cm wide
• Order the number of meters resulting from the calculation above
• For larger boxwoods, multiple strips are laid side by side and connected with cable ties

Tip: It is better to order a little extra – excess length can easily be applied overlapping or simply cut off with scissors.

Connecting nets:

If several nets are needed:

• Lay the nets overlapping
• Connect them to each other with cable ties
• Ensure that there are no gaps left open

Application:

• Place the net over the boxwood from the top
• Adjust loosely, do not pull tight
• Close the bottom edge near the ground so that no moths can enter
• Air and light can still reach the plant

Care & Use:

• The net can remain on the boxwood all year round
• Remove briefly for pruning and reapply afterwards
• Clean with water if necessary
• Store in a dry place if removed temporarily
