The square4sun line features two mast systems at the head of the sail area, from which four tension cables lead to the rectangular sail. These tension lines best showcase the convex curvature of the fabric and, according to the manufacturer, give the system the highest wind stability within the C4sun series. At the same time, the line is the largest of the four models. It is suitable for large, open areas where the masts are planned to be at the head end anyway, and it requires a solid foundation: two masts and four cables exert significant forces on the ground.

The sail is moved by a Somfy tubular motor in the shaft. When extending, special aluminum profiles developed by Bahama curve the fabric three-dimensionally; when retracting, they lie flat against the shaft again. The radio-controlled Sunea 60 io with a handheld transmitter is standard, with the wired LT 60 Taurus for an on-site KNX control system as an alternative; with the Somfy Tahoma hub, operation via smartphone is possible. Wind sensors, sun sensors, and rain sensors are available as accessories, and we would not recommend skipping the wind sensor for the large formats in this series.

The fabric is WeatherMAX 80, a yarn-dyed and impregnated polyester fabric with approximately 270 g per square meter, which is breathable, highly water-repellent, and rated UPF 50+. The panels are glued in place before sewing and stitched with TENARA thread; the tension cables are 4 mm thick. For the masts, you can choose between the round ID 110 with a 110 mm diameter, 3,623 mm height, and 11-degree tilt, or the oval ID 175 with dimensions of 75 to 105 by 175 mm and heights from 3,000 to 4,500 mm. Both are made of powder-coated aluminum in White Aluminum similar to RAL 9006 or Anthracite similar to RAL 7016, with a fine-structure matte finish. Masts longer than 4,000 mm must be additionally braced; a bracing set is available for this purpose.

48 size combinations are available, from a projection of 4.0 m by a width of 4.0 m to a projection of 7.8 m by a width of 6.8 m. The largest standard size thus covers around 53 square meters, more than any other single C4sun sail. We can calculate custom dimensions on request; according to the manufacturer, systems up to 106 square meters can be created as a double-sail system.

Every sail is covered with WeatherMAX 80. Four colors are standard and available at no extra charge: Silver 95, Oyster 11, Taupe 92, and Graphite 94. In addition, Bahama offers thirteen special colors: Beige 16, Sand 14, Toast 13, Chocolate 80, Pacific Blue 22, Royal 24, Captain Navy 25, Black 90, Moss 36, Forest Green 30, Yellow 40, White 10, and Light Charcoal 91; for these, the 2026 price list charges a surcharge of 16 euros per square meter, with the area calculated as projection times width. Color representations on screens are not binding. If you are hesitant, we will send you material samples before you commit.

Wind stability at C4sun includes a stress-relief mechanism in the mast: internal dampers absorb wind pressure, while sliding pulleys guide the tension cables quietly. The four tension cables distribute the forces over more points, giving the line the most stable fabric positioning within the series. To be honest: unlike for its large umbrellas, Bahama does not specify a wind speed in kilometers per hour for the C4sun sails and does not provide a separate wind warranty. The sail must be retracted during storms, heavy rain, and snowfall. For large areas and windy locations, Bahama recommends the Power Package with two synchronized motors; it is already included for some of the largest dimensions.

The statutory warranty and the Bahama terms and conditions apply; there is no separate wind warranty for the sails as there is for the large umbrellas. Wear parts such as tension cables, pulleys, and motors can be reordered from Bahama; a replacement sail is custom-made to your dimensions. Bahama offers cleaning, impregnation, and maintenance as a service, according to the 2026 price list for 260 euros net plus 34 euros per square meter, excluding disassembly and assembly, and with the customer shipping the sail without profiles. For the winter break, there is a protective cover for the shaft and sail made of WeatherMAX 80 in Graphite with Velcro closure, for 320 euros net.

Bahama has been manufacturing in Reichshof in the Oberberg region since 1950; the C4sun sail line, launched in 2011, has been part of the company since 2018. The fabrics are created in collaboration with one of the leading German sail manufacturers: the panels are cut using CNC laser cutting, precisely glued before sewing, and stitched with TENARA thread. Bahama handles the installation of profiles and final assembly in-house by hand. Each system is only manufactured after your order and to your specific dimensions.

With the square4sun line, the two masts are positioned in front of the head of the sail area, with four tension cables pulling the fabric into shape. You can see this in the sail: the arched roof shape is more pronounced, and the manufacturer certifies this variant as having higher wind stability.

I will also mention the downside: two masts mean two foundations and two locations where the ground must be load-bearing; from a mast height of four meters, a guying set is added. Anyone who plans for this preliminary work gets the largest sail in the series – up to 7.8 m extension with a width of 6.8 m.

The sailcloth for the square4sun line is WeatherMAX 80, a solution-dyed, impregnated polyester fabric, not acrylic. In most cases, it is sufficient to brush off the extended sail while dry and remove leaves or pollen before retracting it. For heavier soiling, clean by hand using lukewarm water, mild soap, and a soft brush, rinse thoroughly, and allow the sail to dry completely while extended. Never retract it while damp, or mildew stains will form.

High-pressure cleaners, abrasive agents, solvents, and chlorine should not be used on the fabric. The high-pressure jet destroys the HydroMax finish and damages the seams, and it is precisely this impregnation that ensures water beads off rather than soaking in. After a few years, the impregnation will wear off; this is normal. Bahama will then accept the sail for cleaning, impregnation, and maintenance, at a cost according to the 2026 price list of 260 euros net plus 34 euros per square meter, excluding disassembly and reassembly. For this purpose, the sail is sent in without the profiles.

The mast, shaft, and brackets are made of powder-coated aluminum or stainless steel. A damp cloth with clear water is sufficient; polish or abrasive cleaners are not needed. Once a year, check the 4 mm thick pull ropes, the deflection pulleys, and the tightness of the fastenings. Please do not grease or oil the deflection pulleys on your own; instead, contact us. In coastal areas and locations with high salt content, Bahama offers extra V4A protection with more corrosion-resistant components.

During winter, the sail should be rolled up clean and completely dry and remain retracted; the winter protective cover made of WeatherMAX 80 wraps around the shaft and sail with a Velcro fastener. Do not leave the sail extended if snow or ice is expected. Creases and fold lines in the fabric occur during rolling, are unavoidable with any retractable sail, and do not constitute a defect; they generally disappear once the fabric has been under tension for an extended period.

The square4sun line is a custom-made product. It is manufactured only after you place your order, to your specific dimensions, at the Bahama factory in Reichshof. Please allow several weeks for this; we will provide a firm date with your order confirmation. Experience shows that it takes longer during the peak season between April and July, and the large formats in this series in particular require extra time to manufacture.

A C4sun is not installed independently: assembly is handled by Bahama technicians or trained specialist dealers, and we will coordinate the appointment with you and the technician. Shipping and installation costs are added to the price shown above. For sun sails, freight charges depend on the sail width and your postcode area and range from 379 to 740 euros net in 2026; installation is charged according to time and material. We will inform you of both before you place your order so that you know the total amount.

The price does not include the mast or the ground mounting. Depending on the surface, the mast is placed on a concrete foundation, a Krinner screw foundation, in a ground sleeve, or attached to the building via wall clamps and a mast bracket. The foundation itself and the 230-volt power connection must be provided on-site, as must a suitable base. We will specify exactly what is required in your case in the quote so that there are no additional costs later.

Delivery is made by a forwarding agent to the curb. The shaft and sail are long and bulky, so access and a storage area should be clarified, and someone should be available to assist with unloading. The easiest way is to combine delivery with the installation appointment, then the material is in good hands on that day anyway.

Because every sail is custom-made, there is no right of withdrawal. That is precisely why we take our time beforehand: we will go through dimensions, mast position, color, drive, and mounting with you before the order goes into production.
