Jumbrella outSide cantilever parasol

The Jumbrella outSide is a cantilever umbrella for patios where a central pole would get in the way. The support column is positioned to the side, leaving the area under the canopy clear—whether over a dining table, a lounge area, a flower bed, or a small outdoor dining space. Six model sizes span 7 to 16 square meters, in round or square shapes. In 2021, the model was honored with the iF Design Award.

The umbrella is operated without a crank or loose parts. Using spherical handles on the mast and the cross-strut, you push the cylinder upward in four stages; then, two tension levers with spring clips tension the fabric. The tension levers contain cylinder locks that prevent unauthorized opening and closing. The servo mechanism behind them is maintenance-free.

The support column consists of an inner and an outer column that visually merge into one: approximately 130 millimeters in diameter, with a wall thickness of about 6 millimeters, extruded and PES powder-coated. Eight spokes made of welded rectangular aluminum hollow profiles in the special alloy AlF30/32 support the membrane, attached with stainless steel axle bolts and additionally stabilized by a stainless steel cable with a diameter of 4 millimeters. The load-bearing structure contains no plastic parts, and spokes and supports can be replaced individually.

When open, the umbrella is 312 centimeters high; when closed, it is 419 centimeters. The clearance height is 240 centimeters, and 205 centimeters in the center. The umbrella weighs approximately 120 kilograms. One point to be aware of beforehand: the ground clearance at the edge of the fabric drops significantly with size—from 248 centimeters for the Ø 300 cm model to 200 centimeters for the Ø 400 cm model, down to 120 centimeters for the 400 x 400 cm model. Depending on the model, the distance from the center of the column to the edge of the membrane is 123, 96, or 72 centimeters.

Available sizes are Ø 300, Ø 350, and Ø 400 centimeters, as well as 300 x 300, 350 x 350, and 400 x 400 centimeters. As standard, the membrane is made of betex®05, the fabric manufactured exclusively for Bahama: 100 percent polyester with a transparent coating on the top side, approximately 200 grams per square meter, UPF 50+ (with the exception of the color Snow 9577), a water column of at least 1,000 millimeters, and OEKO-TEX 100 Class 1 certified. There are 28 colors to choose from in the shop; the membrane is one-piece, washable, and replaceable.

The aluminum frame is supplied as standard in anthracite gray RAL 7016 fine structure, the plastic parts in black, and all metal parts made of V2A stainless steel. Traffic white RAL 9016, other RAL tones, or special finishes such as Golden Oak, concrete, and Corten steel are available upon request, subject to separate pricing and longer delivery times. Upon request, Bahama also supplies the same sizes with solution-dyed branded acrylic fabric (approx. 300 g/m²), with Precontraint 302 (approx. 480 g/m², welded segments, flame-retardant according to DIN 4102-B1), or with swela elegance (approx. 310 g/m²). There is no valance available for this model.

The maximum permissible wind speed for all six sizes in the open position is 50 kilometers per hour, which corresponds to wind force 7. Beyond this, the umbrella should be closed and strapped. The Jumbrella outSide is only intended for stationary installation: tiltable ground mounting with a base part to be set in concrete (approx. 42 kilograms), hot-dip galvanized mounting base plate 610 x 610 x 20 millimeters for bolting down (approx. 77.5 kilograms), combination mounting with a winter cover plate (approx. 98 kilograms), or two wall brackets for attachment to a house wall. A mobile solution with base plates is not available for this model.

Bahama grants a 37-month wind guarantee on the open umbrella, which can be extended twice by 37 months each, for a total of 111 months. Replacement membranes are available in all four fabric types, spokes and supports can be replaced individually, and the supply of spare parts is exceptionally long-lasting. Cleaning, repair, winter storage, and the installation of a new membrane are handled by the Bahama service department.

Manufacturing takes place in Reichshof in the Oberbergisches Land region, in a fully integrated process and following your order. Around Wasserburg, many patios are laid out in such a way that there is simply no room for a pole in the middle – there’s a table, a path, or a flower bed. That is exactly why I added the Jumbrella outSide to my range: the pole is positioned to the side, leaving the area underneath clear.

One detail that is easy to overlook: this model is only available with stationary ground mountings – set in concrete, bolted down, or wall-mounted. Anyone looking for a mobile solution with base plates would be better off with a different model. And the maximum permitted wind speed is 50 km/h.

The membrane is made of betex®05, a coated polyester fabric – not acrylic. Dry brushing is sufficient in most cases. For heavier soiling, clean the fabric by hand with lukewarm water and mild soap, rinse well, and let the umbrella dry completely while open. The one-piece membrane can be removed and washed. In case of persistent rain, it is better to close the umbrella and subsequently dry a soaked fabric while open so that no mildew stains form.

Wipe the support column, ribs, and struts with clear water and a soft cloth; the PES powder coating is resistant to impacts and scratches and provides durable protection. Please do not use high-pressure cleaners, abrasive agents, solvents, or chlorine. When closing, pull the fabric triangles outward and fold the fabric overlappingly around the cantilever arm instead of pinching it between the ribs and struts. Then, fasten the securing strap and re-tighten it once during longer periods of closure.

Over the winter, the umbrella should remain closed, strapped, and kept as dry as possible. The comfort protective cover made of betex®05 is not included in the scope of delivery but is available as an option, optionally with a telescopic pole for easier covering. For those who wish to remove the umbrella from the weather entirely: Bahama offers pickup, cleaning, maintenance, and winter storage as a service, and the combination mount has a winter cover cap for the ground sleeve left open.

Creases and fold marks in the fabric are unavoidable with any assembled umbrella and do not constitute a defect. The same applies to brightening at highly tensioned creases and to pinpoint friction marks caused by movement in the wind. These phenomena affect the appearance, not the function.

Every Jumbrella outSide is a custom-made product. It is built in Reichshof after your order is placed, in your chosen size, fabric, and color – there is no stock available in this combination. Bahama specifies a production time of approximately five to nine weeks for this product line. Added to this is the shipping time, which has a minimum lead time of about two weeks.

We will provide you with a binding date in the order confirmation once production has been scheduled. During the peak season from April to July, production is at high capacity, which extends the lead time. If you have a specific target date, please let us know before ordering; scheduled deliveries are possible for an additional charge.

Ground mounting is not included in the umbrella price. The Jumbrella outSide is designed exclusively for stationary installation, meaning it must be concreted in, bolted down, or screwed to a wall. We will determine which of the four variants suits your surface together – ideally before the patio flooring is laid, as the base part to be concreted in belongs in the planning phase, not at the end.

Delivery is made via freight carrier to the curbside. The umbrella travels in a half-shell roll measuring 4,600 x 650 millimeters, and the transport weight is approximately 175 kilograms. Please ensure a second person is available to help and provide an accessible drop-off location; the freight carriers do not carry the items into the house or garden.

Because every umbrella is manufactured according to your specifications, the right of withdrawal is excluded for this custom-made item.
