One parasol

The One is Bahama's high-class model series, developed in collaboration with Studio F. A. Porsche. It is aimed at terraces, hotels, and pool areas where the umbrella remains visible as a design element rather than just providing shade. There are six basic sizes to choose from, ranging from 13 to 25 square meters, in round or square shapes with diameters or side lengths of 4 to 5 meters. Special formats are available upon request.

The One is operated using a maintenance-free servo mechanism. You fold both tension levers upward, lift the ends of the spokes until the umbrella opens automatically, latch the handle's spring clip, and fold the handle downward. There are no cranks, ropes, or plugs, nor are there any visible screws or cables: the mechanics and, if equipped, the electrical components are hidden within the umbrella. A lock securely mounted to the floor base is included in the delivery.

The support column follows a minimalist cylindrical design with accents in a brushed aluminum finish. It consists of extruded, internally reinforced aluminum, has a diameter of approximately 82 millimeters with a wall thickness of 3 to 7 millimeters, and is PES powder-coated and subsequently fired. All load-bearing components are made of aluminum or stainless steel, and the spokes feature a hollow groove for the keder-guided membrane. All six sizes have eight spokes, a clearance height of 240 centimeters, and an umbrella weight between 63 and 77 kilograms.

For the fabric of the One, Bahama does not use its own betex fabric, but rather swela elegance: a 100 percent polyester fabric with a dirt- and water-repellent impregnation, approximately 310 grams per square meter, UV protection UPF 50+, the highest lightfastness of class 7 to 8, and weatherfastness of the same class. The feel is distinctly textile, and the membrane is keder-guided, which keeps it permanently and evenly under tension. Elegance cannot be printed; if you require a printable fabric, Pure or Jumbrella are better options.

The color selection is deliberately curated and available to us as samples, which is why we determine the shade together rather than choosing it on a screen. The frame comes standard in anthracite grey RAL 7016 with a fine texture, the plastic parts in anthracite, and the metal parts in V2A stainless steel. Any other RAL color is available for an extra charge, as is a column extension of up to 50 centimeters. For locations near lakes, there is the "Extra-Protection V4A" version with all metal parts made from a special stainless steel alloy; this cannot be retrofitted. This series does not feature a valance.

Optionally, the One can be illuminated. RGBW LED strips with 240/24 volts integrated into the supports can be dimmed and freely adjusted in color via remote control, ranging from warm white to neutral to cool white; additionally, a Light Spot can be added to the top of the umbrella upon request, which can only be ordered in combination with the LED strips. There are no visible cables or attachments. Electrical work for the connection should be carried out by a professional; the connection cables themselves are not included in the scope of delivery.

Regarding wind stability, the manufacturer provides specific values. When anchored stationarily, the maximum permissible wind speed with an open umbrella ranges from 102 kilometers per hour for the 4.0 m Ø model to 60 kilometers per hour for the 5.0 × 5.0 m model; for mobile versions, it ranges from 71 to 44 kilometers per hour. The wind guarantee of up to 111 months applies depending on the floor attachment and umbrella size up to a maximum wind force of 10, i.e., 102 kilometers per hour. Bahama advertises that the One may remain open even in your absence; however, we still recommend closing it in the event of an announced storm.

Wear parts remain replaceable: spokes and supports are attached with stainless steel axle bolts and spring pins and can be replaced individually, while screws and fasteners are covered by panels. Bahama guarantees short delivery times, fast replacement shipments, and an exceptionally long supply of spare parts for this series, and offers cleaning, repairs, a membrane service, and winter storage.

Manufacturing takes place entirely in Reichshof in the Oberbergisches Land region, where Bahama has been producing since 1950 and manufactures almost all components in-house. Each One is created individually to order. Write to us using the contact form regarding your space, the nature of the ground, and whether you would like to include lighting. We will then honestly tell you which size fits and will also advise you to choose a smaller one if the location is windy.

I added the One to our range because it answers a question customers ask me time and again: Why does a large umbrella always have to look so technical? With the One, cables and electrical components are hidden within the supports, and the tiltable floor mount is included as standard – something that is easily overlooked when comparing, as it is an optional extra elsewhere.

However, there is one limitation you must accept: the swela elegance fabric cannot be printed, and I only have a physical swatch book for the color range. For this reason, we will select the fabric color together, rather than you simply clicking on a screen color in the shop.

The membrane of the One consists of swela elegance, an impregnated polyester fabric, not acrylic. Brush off loose dirt when dry. For anything else, lukewarm water, mild soap, and a soft brush are sufficient; then rinse thoroughly and let the umbrella dry while fully open. This ensures the dirt- and water-repellent impregnation remains effective for as long as possible.

Please do not use high-pressure cleaners, solvents, or abrasive agents. Wipe the column, spokes, and ground mount with clear water; the baked-on powder coating and stainless steel parts require no further maintenance. Never fold the fabric while damp and do not trap it between the spokes and supports when closing.

To overwinter, close the umbrella, pull the fabric triangles outward, wrap them spirally around the column, and apply the securing straps; please re-tighten the straps during long periods of closure. We recommend a weather protection cover; for the One, it is made of the same elegance fabric in the color of the membrane and is optionally available with a telescopic pole. If you remove the umbrella, seal the ground sleeve with the winter cover cap and store the umbrella and fabric in a dry place.

Creases and fold marks in the fabric, lighter lines in areas of high tension, and slight friction marks on the frame are normal for every large umbrella. They occur during manufacturing and daily use, affect only the appearance, and do not constitute a defect.

Every One is a custom-made product, built at the factory in Reichshof after your order is placed, according to your size, membrane color, and desired equipment. Bahama estimates a production time of approximately four to six weeks for this series. Shipping time is additional.

You will receive the binding delivery date with the order confirmation once the size, color, anchoring, and any optional LED equipment have been determined. Peak season is between April and July, during which time it takes longer. Bahama requires a minimum lead time of approximately two weeks for shipping, and electrical equipment extends the production time further.

A special feature compared to the other series: the One includes a stationary, tiltable ground mount for concrete embedding as standard, optionally with or without an electrical connection. All other variants cost extra, such as the steel plate stand with eight 490 × 490 × 15 millimeter plates weighing approximately 240 kilograms, or the version with four 740 × 740 × 15 millimeter plates weighing approximately 290 kilograms, in addition to the octagonal mounting base plate and adapter plates for Krinner or third-party ground sleeves. The actual concrete pouring or anchoring must be provided on-site and is not included in the price.

Delivery is made via freight forwarder to the curb. The parasol arrives in a hard cardboard cylinder measuring approximately 3.95 to 4.93 meters in length and about 410 to 462 millimeters in diameter; the transport weight is between 83 and 97 kilograms depending on the size. No one can carry this alone: please plan for at least two strong people to unload it and let us know in advance if the access route is narrow, located in a pedestrian zone, or if a specific delivery appointment needs to be coordinated.

Because the parasol is manufactured according to your specifications, the right of withdrawal is excluded for this custom-made product. This is precisely why we take time beforehand to discuss size, color samples, and anchoring, ensuring your final decision is a confident one.
