Balcony folding table

The Balcony folding table comes from Thomas Albrecht, who designed the entire Balcony family for Weishäupl. His concept was simple: a proper dining table for outdoors that can still disappear when space is needed. With a 100 × 70 cm tabletop, four people can sit comfortably, at 72 cm high it accommodates any chair underneath, and at around 15 kilograms, the table has enough weight to stand firmly – and little enough to carry it alone.

The folding frame is made of AISI 304 stainless steel, the material used even where salt air and rain take their toll on materials. You can get it brushed, with the silky shimmer of bare metal, or powder-coated in twelve colors: White, Cream, Coral, Berry, Pearl Green, Sage, Smoke Blue, Pearl Beige, Maroon, Taupe, Metallic Grey, and Black. Together, these make thirteen frame variants – from understated Pearl Beige to bold Coral, which turns a small balcony into a little stage.

You have two choices for the tabletop. The solid teak slats offer a warm, classic look: Teak naturally contains oils that protect it from moisture; it can be left outside year-round and will age over the years into that silvery-grey patina that many people love on old garden furniture. Those who prefer to maintain the color can oil it once a year. The second path is HPL, a high-pressure laminate that is scratch-resistant, easy to care for, and unaffected by a spilled glass of red wine or a summer thunderstorm. HPL is available in White, Sand, Stone, Bronze, and Slate.

The folding mechanism itself is the real luxury: the tabletop folds in the middle, the frame follows, and what was just a dining table now leans flat against the wall – in the garden shed, in the basement, or behind the balcony door. Clean with clear water and a soft cloth. The table is delivered disassembled and can be set up in a few minutes with the included tools.

The folding table measures 100 × 70 cm, and I’ll be honest with you about what that means: four people can sit comfortably as long as everyone just has a plate and a glass in front of them. If you add bowls, serving boards, and a carafe, it gets crowded—in that case, a larger dining table is the better choice.

What the Balcony table offers instead: it folds flat and, weighing about 15 kilos, leans against the basement wall rather than sitting on the balcony all winter. For patios that need to be a dining room in summer and a patio again in winter, that is worth more than any extra centimeter of table surface.

You can simply let the teak slats be: untreated, they will develop an elegant silver-grey patina over time. If you wish to preserve the warm honey tone, treat the wood with Weishäupl Hard Oil.

For a spring refresh, we recommend the wood cleaner set, and for wood that has already turned grey, the wood brightener setwill restore its warm hue.

The frame made of AISI 304 stainless steel – brushed or powder-coated – is permanently weather-resistant; wiping it down with mild soapy water is sufficient. HPL tops are durable and easy to clean.
