Produktbeschreibung

Solid granite base plate for Weishäupl cantilever and telescopic parasols. Four versions: granite grey/white flamed (125 kg), granite dark grey silk-matt (125 kg), granite grey/white flamed two-part (240 kg), and the base frame available separately for retrofitting. The base frame has 4 castors, 2 of which are lockable.

Which plate is suitable for which parasol?

  • Ø 350 and 300 × 300 cantilever, grey frame → granite grey/white flamed, 125 kg, 85 × 85 × 9 cm (item no. BPFS30125)
  • Ø 350 and 300 × 300 cantilever, grey frame, with stainless steel base frame → 133 kg total, 87 × 87 × 16 cm (item no. BPFS30128)
  • 300 × 300 cantilever, black frame → granite dark grey silk-matt, 125 kg, 85 × 85 × 9 cm (item no. BPFSS0125)
  • 300 × 300 cantilever, black frame, with black powder-coated stainless steel base frame → 133 kg total, 87 × 87 × 16 cm (item no. BPFSS0128)
  • 400 × 400 cantilever as well as Ø 500 and 400 × 400 telescopic → granite grey/white flamed, two-part with split top plate, 240 kg, 85 × 85 × 15 cm (item no. BPFSAT240). Version "Granite 240 kg two-part" – a base frame is not intended for this.
  • Base frame separately, version "Base frame only · without base plate" → stainless steel for grey frame (item no. BPFS20127) or black powder-coated stainless steel for black frame (item no. BPFSB0127), 87 × 87 × 10 cm and 8 kg each

Regarding the version: The version follows the frame color of your parasol. The grey/white flamed plate with a bare stainless steel base frame belongs with the grey frame; the dark grey silk-matt plate with a black powder-coated base frame belongs with the black frame.

The two-part 240 kg plate:

For the 400 × 400 cm cantilever parasol and the Ø 500 cm and 400 × 400 cm telescopic parasols, Weishäupl specifies a base plate weight of at least 240 kg. The plate is designed in two parts because 240 kg cannot be practically transported onto a terrace in one piece: with a split top plate, it becomes a job for two strong people and a hand truck, and when moving it later, you do not move the entire mass at once. The flamed natural stone is slip-resistant and frost-resistant.

Statics: Please check the permissible point and surface load in advance for balconies, roof terraces, and wooden structures. 240 kg on 0.72 m² is not a trivial matter.

Base frame:

Useful if you follow the sun with the parasol or store it away seasonally. Two of the four castors can be locked. Without the base frame, the plate sits flat and remains practically immovable. Base area 87 × 87 cm, height 10 cm, dead weight 8 kg.

Important: The base frame is an accessory for the base plate and not an independent ballast. The stability comes from the 125 kg granite plate, which rests on the frame. The version "Base frame only · without base plate" is intended for retrofitting if you already have the plate.

Why a specific plate: With a cantilever parasol, the canopy hangs laterally from the boom and creates a tilting lever, which the wind additionally reinforces. A base plate for center-pole parasols is not approved for this, even with higher weight – in addition to mass, the surface area that counteracts the lever counts.

Note from Weishäupl: "We do not recommend cantilever parasols for use in wind-exposed locations."

Subsurface: level, load-bearing surface such as a terrace, wooden deck, paving, or concrete. Not suitable for grass or gravel, as one-sided sinking immediately impairs the stability of a cantilever parasol. For a permanent location, a concreted-in ground anchor made of galvanized steelis the cleaner solution.

Warum wir dieses Produkt führen

When it comes to the cantilever parasol, I am at my most blunt, and that is intentional. There is no room for improvisation here. The boom arm hangs from the side, which creates a lever effect – and a standard parasol base plate, no matter how heavy, is not approved for this. I have heard it too often: “I just put the old plate underneath it.” That works fine until it gets really windy.

125 kg on an 85 × 85 cm base sounds like a lot. It is the minimum that Weishäupl approves for this parasol – and even then, the manufacturer's rule applies: it is better to avoid cantilever parasols in wind-exposed locations. For a four-meter parasol, we are talking about 16 square meters of sail area; for that, it’s 240 kg, in two parts, so that you can actually get them into place. This plate is cumbersome, but I stock it anyway – a base that is too light is by far the most common reason for broken parasols in my workshop. Not material defects, not wear and tear: a gust of wind, a jolt, and the ribs are ruined. The ballast costs a fraction of the parasol.

I offer the rolling stand separately because it saves me from hearing the sentence I otherwise hear every autumn: “We’ll just leave the parasol where it is; we can’t move it anyway.” However, I will tell you right now what it is not: a standalone base solution. The 8 kg hold nothing – the weight comes from the granite plate that sits on top. Anyone who orders only the rolling stand has a mobile frame and not a secure parasol.

Weishäupl manufactures in Stephanskirchen, less than a half-hour drive from us in Wasserburg am Inn. I am a master roller shutter and sun protection mechatronics technician, and our family business is in its third generation. We are not a large corporation and do not have a showroom – in exchange, I will look at your location via photo or video before you buy a plate that ends up not fitting.

Pflege & Hinweise

Granite and stainless steel are made for the outdoors. Nevertheless, a few points will keep the slab in top shape for years to come:

  • Cleaning: clear water and a soft brush, with pH-neutral soap if necessary. No acidic cleaners – they make natural stone dull and stained. We advise against using a high-pressure cleaner at close range: it roughens the flamed surface.
  • Grease stains from grills, oil, or sunscreen should be removed as soon as possible using dish soap and warm water.
  • Rolling base: Clear sand and gravel from the rollers once a year and check the locks. A blocked lock is a safety issue with a cantilever umbrella, not just an inconvenience. Do not leave the base standing in a puddle of water over the winter – freezing water on the running surface is the most common reason for blocked rollers in the spring.
  • Rust prevention: The rolling base is made of stainless steel or is black powder-coated. Brown spots on stainless steel are surface rust from external sources – wipe off with a damp cloth, do not use steel wool or chlorine-based cleaners. Clean the black powder-coated version with clear water and mild soapy water; abrasive cleaners will leave dull spots, so repair any scratches promptly.
  • Frost protection: The granite itself is frost-resistant. If the umbrella is removed for the winter, do not leave water in the socket and cover the opening.
  • Check and tighten the bolts between the umbrella base and the slab before every summer. With a cantilever umbrella, the lever is constantly working on this connection. For the two-part 240 kg slab, also check that the divided top slab is resting cleanly and evenly.
  • On sensitive surfaces such as wooden decking or light-colored natural stone, it is best to place a thin rubber mat under the slab. This prevents pressure marks and discoloration.

Differences in color and structure as well as a natural weathering patina are normal for natural stone and are not a defect – they are the reason why every slab looks different.

Lieferung & Versand

Delivery time: approx. 1 week (ex works, shipping is free of charge for you).

The base plates are delivered by a freight forwarder to the curbside. Weighing 125 kg (without roller stand), 133 kg (with roller stand), or 240 kg (two-piece plate), these are not items you can easily carry around the house alone – please plan for two strong people and a hand truck, and check in advance that the path to the installation site is free of steps. The 240 kg plate arrives on a pallet; because it is in two pieces, the transport on your property can be split up.

If you order only the roller stand, the shipment weighs just 8 kg – it is also delivered by freight forwarder to the curbside.

Please let us know when ordering if delivery might be difficult – e.g., narrow access, backyard, stairs, no possibility for a no-parking zone, or if a tail lift is required. We will then coordinate this with the freight forwarder in advance instead of the driver arriving at your door and being unable to proceed.

Natural stone is sensitive to impacts on the edges. Please check the shipment upon delivery and have any visible transport damage noted directly on the consignment note.
