Round granite base plate

Round granite base plate, grey/white flamed, with stainless steel sleeve for bolting. Due to the flamed surface, each plate is unique. Available in 35, 55, and 75 kg, as well as with a sleeve diameter of 40, 50, 54, 62, or 64 mm.

Which plate is suitable for which parasol?

Weishäupl approves each base plate for specific parasol sizes and models. Find your parasol in the following guide – the weight and sleeve diameter are determined accordingly.

The granite plate is not available for the Ø 500 Classic and 400 × 400 Classic – for these sizes, Weishäupl only offers the 120 kg round concrete plate (Art. No. BP164120).

Note on the Ø 400 Trend: Weishäupl's documentation lists two different sleeve diameters for this size – the base plate overview states 62 mm, while the base sleeve overview states 54 mm. We will verify the correct size directly with the manufacturer before your order. Please send us a quick message before ordering for this parasol size.

Note from Weishäupl: "We consider the base plate weight assigned to the parasols as a recommendation. In windy locations as well as for parasols with a tilting mechanism, we recommend using the next size up for the base plate."

No caster set: There are no casters available for the granite plate. If you intend to move your parasol regularly, the square concrete plate or the steel plate are more practical.

Surface: Place a thin rubber mat underneath if using on delicate surfaces such as wooden decking or light-colored natural stone. This prevents pressure marks and discoloration.

The granite base is the only one in our range where I can understand why someone would choose it for aesthetic reasons. Each one is flamed, making it unique—and it is significantly more compact than concrete or steel for the same weight. On a small balcony or a narrow terrace, that makes all the difference.

To be honest: It costs more than concrete and does not support a set of rollers. Anyone who moves the umbrella constantly or wants to put it away alone in the autumn is better served by the rectangular concrete or steel base. Anyone who sets the umbrella up once and leaves it there will have a piece with granite that will still look good in twenty years.

What I cannot spare you: Even the most beautiful base is useless if it is too light. An underweight stand is the most common reason for broken umbrellas—better to go one size bigger. I am a master roller shutter and sun protection mechatronics technician and run our family business in Wasserburg am Inn in the third generation. Granite is one of the easiest materials to care for, but natural stone and cleaning agents do not always mix well:

• Cleaning: clear water and a soft brush, with pH-neutral soap if necessary. The flamed surface is rough—a brush is more effective than a cloth.
• No acidic cleaners, no vinegar, no citrus-based cleaners. They will dull the surface and cause staining.
• Fatty stains (grill residue, sunscreen, oil) are best removed immediately with dish soap and warm water. Granite is slightly absorbent, and grease that has soaked in will remain visible.
• Protecting the edges: Natural stone is susceptible to chipping at the edges. When moving, lift it; do not tilt it or drag it over paving.
• Frost protection: After removing the umbrella, please do not leave water in the sleeve. Freezing water can crack the anchoring in the stone. A lid or a piece of plastic film with a rubber band is sufficient.
• Avoiding rust: The sleeve is made of stainless steel and will not rust. Brown spots are surface rust from external sources and can be wiped off—do not use steel wool, as it leaves behind new iron particles.
• Winter storage: Granite can remain outdoors. On wooden decking, it is better to place a mat underneath during winter.

Variations in color and structure between individual slabs are normal for natural stone and do not constitute a defect.

Delivery time: approx. 1 week (ex works, shipping is free for you).

Due to the weight, the base plate will be delivered by a freight forwarder; delivery is curbside only. A strong person can carry 35 kg, but for 55 and 75 kg, please use two people or a hand truck. Granite does not have a set of wheels – please factor in the distance from the street to the installation site.

Natural stone is sensitive to impacts on the edges. Please do not set it down on the edge and do not drag it across pavement when carrying it – a wool blanket as a base is sufficient.

Please check the shipment upon delivery and have any visible transport damage noted directly on the bill of lading.
