New Hampton is one of those collections where customers are most likely to ask: Is this really necessary? My answer: If the furniture stays outside in winter, yes. Not because of the rain – that doesn't do much – but because of the dampness that doesn't dry out for days, and because of leaves and bird droppings, which leave stains. I stock Weishäupl covers because the fabric breathes: any moisture that gets under the cover can also get back out. Under an airtight tarp, it stays trapped, and by March, you have mold. They are sewn in Stephanskirchen, less than half an hour's drive from us – that is just as important to me for accessories as it is for the furniture itself.

This is how the cover will stay tight and in shape for years:

• Cleaning: lukewarm water, mild soapy water, a soft sponge or soft brush. Allow to dry completely before putting the cover back on.
• Before covering: Wipe furniture and upholstery dry and clean. Trapped moisture is the most common cause of mildew stains.
• Overwintering: The cover can remain outside all year round. The covers for the seating and lounge elements are designed so that the upholstery can be left in place – however, I still store loose cushions and pads in a dry place.
• Impregnating: If the water repellency diminishes after a few years, refresh the clean, dry cover with an impregnation spray for outdoor fabrics – never on wet fabric.
• Please do not use: washing machine, tumble dryer, high-pressure cleaner, fabric softener, solvents, abrasive cleaners, or bleach. This damages the fabric and thus the weather protection.

A practical tip: Tighten the cord and cord stopper once before winter. A tightly fitting cover will not flap in a storm and therefore will not chafe.

Delivery time: approx. 3 weeks. Each protective cover is sewn to order at Weishäupl and shipped directly to you from the factory.

Shipping as a parcel within Germany and Austria: €9.90; free of charge for orders over €100. A freight forwarder is not required for protective covers – even if you order several covers at once.
