Outdoor wedding: Shade and weather protection for your location
An outdoor wedding stands or falls with the weather. At noon, the sun beats down on the guests, in the afternoon a shower might pass through, and in the evening it gets chilly. Anyone hosting an event outdoors as a venue, caterer, or rental company should therefore plan not only the tables, but also shade and weather protection. Here, we show which solution is suitable for what.
Large umbrellas for large parties
For courtyards, garden areas, and large terraces, large umbrellas are the most flexible solution. The umbrellas from Bahama and Caravita reach edge lengths of up to twelve meters, providing shade for entire banquet tables. From this size upwards, the anchoring is part of the planning: using a ground sleeve, base plate, or umbrella stand, depending on the surface and whether the umbrella is to be fixed or moved. You can find suitable ground sleeves, base plates, and umbrella stands in our shop.
Louvred roofs: celebrate even when it rains
A louvred roof is a permanent aluminum construction with rotating slats. Closed, it is watertight; opened, it lets sun and air through. For venues that regularly host outdoor events, this turns the terrace into a reliable space, even during a summer thunderstorm. Renson louvred roofs can be supplemented with side screens, lighting, and radiant heaters. You can find all models under Louvred roofs.
Shade sails for areas without a center mast
Where no umbrella mast should be in the way, such as over a reception area or an open space in front of the house, shade sails are an elegant solution. The shade sails from Bahama are stretched between masts or attached to the house wall, leaving the area below unobstructed.
The single umbrella counts too
Not every corner needs a large umbrella. For the entrance, the smoking area, or a small terrace next to the ballroom, a single high-quality umbrella is often sufficient. In our Umbrellas collection, you will find models in many sizes and fabric colors to match the style of your venue.
Our advice for planning
- Measure the area that needs shading and add a little extra to each side. The sun is never directly overhead, and the shade shifts throughout the day.
- Clarify the surface: paving, lawn, or wooden decking determine the type of anchoring.
- Think about the evening: warmth and light are part of the planning. Read more in our article When evening falls.
