Wing light Relax hanging chair

The Fischer Möbel Wing light Relax hanging chair is an outdoor hanging chair that can be left on the terrace. The seat shell features a high, flared backrest and is upholstered with fm-rope, a 5 mm thick, hand-woven outdoor rope. The weave allows air and water to pass through: after a rain shower, the chair is dry before you have even fetched the cushion, and it does not heat up in the sun like a solid upholstered surface. It was designed by the design studio Hertel & Klarhoefer.

There are two ways to set it up. As a hanging chair with a frame, it stands freely on the terrace without the need for drilling or interfering with the building structure, and it can be moved or stored away in the autumn. Without a frame, using suspension 2, it hangs from a single point on a ceiling, beam, or pergola and rotates freely while swinging.

Why not a hanging chair from the hardware store: You usually get cotton braiding on painted steel tubing there. That is intended for one season in the shade, not for rain, frost, and full sun. Here, you are sitting on an aluminium frame that cannot rust and on a rope made for constant UV and moisture exposure. The 150 kg load capacity is not just a catalogue figure, but the reason why you can drop into it rather than having to sit down carefully.

Regarding colour choice: Tone-on-tone, i.e., a dark frame with dark braiding, appears calm and almost disappears into the garden. Light fm-rope on the anthracite-coloured frame makes the hanging chair an eye-catcher. Both work well; it is a question of what else your terrace already displays.

Regarding space requirements: The hanging chair with a frame requires a footprint of 150 × 150 cm and a height of 225 cm, plus room to swing. Use masking tape to mark the dimensions on your terrace before ordering. That is the most honest half-minute you can invest in this purchase.

If you are planning the version without a frame: The suspension point must be able to support 150 kg permanently and dynamically. A swinging chair exerts significantly more force than a stationary weight. A load-bearing ceiling beam, a steel girder, or a structurally tested pergola are suitable; a suspended ceiling or simple wooden panelling are not.

With hanging chairs, I look at the suspension first, not the look. If you choose the version without a frame, the ceiling anchor point must be able to permanently support 150 kilograms, and dynamically at that—a swinging chair pulls significantly harder than a static weight. A ceiling beam or a tested pergola works, but a suspended ceiling does not.

With a frame, this question becomes irrelevant, but the chair requires a floor space of 150 × 150 cm and a height of 225 cm. Measure that out with masking tape to check. What I like in terms of detail are the four adjustment plates: you use them to set the seat height, and a few centimeters make a surprising difference when getting in and out.

fm-rope and a powder-coated aluminum frame are built for permanent outdoor use. To ensure the hanging chair looks as good as new for years to come, only a few simple maintenance steps per year are required.

• Cleaning the weave: Rinse with clear water and a soft brush; for heavier soiling, use pH-neutral soap. Do not use a high-pressure cleaner or abrasive agents, as they will roughen the surface of the rope.
• Drying: The weave dries on its own as it allows air to pass through. After prolonged rain, please allow it to air out before putting on a protective cover.
• Cleaning the frame: Use a soft cloth, clear water, and a mild detergent. Touch up any paint damage promptly to prevent further deterioration at that spot.
• Once a year, inspect the ropes, suspension, carabiners, and all screw connections and tighten them. With a swinging chair, this connection is constantly under stress. This is the most important point on this list.
• Cushions are not designed for constant rain. Bring them inside or store them in a dry place after use.
• Overwintering: The hanging chair can be left outside. Place it in a sheltered area and cover it with a breathable material, not plastic film. Condensation forms under plastic film.
• Version without frame: Take it down over the winter and store it in a dry place so that the suspension is not constantly under stress from storms.

Slight color changes in the weave due to sunlight are normal and not a defect. They occur with all outdoor fabrics and will fade evenly with uniform exposure to the elements.

If something is no longer working properly, a rope is chafing, or a carabiner is sticking: Contact us before you try to improvise. We can obtain spare parts through Fischer Möbel and tell you what to do.

Delivery time: approx. 3 to 6 weeks. Fischer Möbel manufactures to order. Therefore, the hanging chair is not in stock, but is built in your chosen combination of frame and wicker color.

Delivery is made by a freight forwarding agency to the curbside. The version with the frame weighs 33 kg and arrives in several packages. Please plan for two people and about one hour for assembly. The version without the frame weighs 15 kg.

Please let us know when ordering if delivery might be difficult: narrow access, backyard, stairs, or no possibility of a no-parking zone. We can then coordinate this with the forwarding agency in advance, rather than the driver arriving at your door unable to proceed.

Please check the shipment upon delivery and have any visible transport damage noted directly on the consignment note. This is the only basis on which we can successfully process a claim with the forwarding agency.

Suspension 1 as an alternative: item no. 2755, two-point attachment for a suspension height of about 2.70 to 3.20 m. The chair thus swings in a straight line back and forth instead of rotating. This version is not listed in the shop; we will provide a quote upon request.

Assembly in brief, version with frame: screw the frame together according to the instructions, hang the seat shell using the two outdoor ropes, adjust the seat height using the four adjustment plates. Two people, about one hour, no drilling required.
